Endgame for the Honda NSX

When, in 1990, Honda introduced the NSX, her first GT, observers see her as the first Japanese capable of competing with Porsche and Ferrari. This first opus will also be a great success with 18,896 copies sold in 15 years of career. After a 10-year hiatus, the super-sports car is back with the production version of the concept car unveiled in 2012.

This second opus is even more innovative than its predecessor, since it is the first vehicle in its category to adopt hybridization. Its 3.5 twin-turbo V6 is, in fact, assisted by three electric motors (one on the rear axle and one on each front wheel), which makes it a four-wheel drive. The whole then develops 581 hp and 645 Nm. More than ever, the NSX is then able to compete with European GTs.

The NSX II is marketed in France from 2016, at a price (181,500 €) which nevertheless seems ambitious given its lack of image. It is then possible to drive a Ferrari for ” only ” 188,353 €, California T price, while a Porsche 911 Turbo is displayed at 177,695 €.

Distributed by only two dealers in France, the NSX II will only sell in small quantities in our country, with less than 20 registrations in more than 5 years of career. It is undoubtedly this failure, which is confirmed in all European countries, which decided the manufacturer not to offer the Type S of 600 ch on our continent.

Today, Honda France has just published its new 2022 tariff. Tariff from which the NSX is absent, thus marking the end, undoubtedly definitive, of the line.
