[서울=뉴스핌] Reporter Choi Hyun-min = The four-day general strike of the National Railroad Union is scheduled to end this morning (the 18th).

According to the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) on the 18th, the time-limited strike of the National Railway Workers’ Union ended at 9 a.m. on this day, so all trains will operate as normal as soon as union members return to the site.

A KORAIL official said, “To minimize inconvenience to the public, we will sequentially resume trains suspended during the strike around 9 a.m., the scheduled return time.”

Considering the training and suitability of returning union members, vehicle organization and operation, etc., KORAIL expected that the high-speed rail (KTX) would operate normally from 5 p.m., general and freight trains from 6 p.m., and metropolitan subway trains from 9 p.m.

Today’s overall train operation rate is aimed at 89.7% compared to normal times.

KTX operates at 87.1%, regular trains including Saemaeul run at 86.2%, and metropolitan subway (metropolitan subway, etc.) operates at 93.2%. The metropolitan subway plans to maintain an operation rate of 95% during rush hour and 99% during rush hour to minimize inconvenience to commuters.

Previously, the railway union demanded that the Busan-Seoul KTX terminal station, which had been increased on the 1st, be changed to Suseo Station, integrated train operation of KTX and SRT high-speed vehicles, connection operation of KTX and SRT, and full implementation of 4 groups and 2 shifts, etc. for 4 days from the 14th. A temporary general strike went into effect.

However, there has been no change in the government’s stance to respond strictly, raising concerns that it might lead to a second strike as the union predicted.

KORAIL estimated that this strike caused 7.5 billion won in damage. The company is considering compensation for damages once morest the union.
