End of season for Cade Cunningham!

Absent from the field since the beginning of November due to a tibia injury, Cade Cunningham will no longer repress the floors this season. The young phenomenon will actually undergo surgery soon, an operation ending the sophomore campaign of the number 1 of the Draft 2021.

Rest or operation? This is the question we asked ourselves at the end of November in relation to Cade Cunningham’s shin injury. The young back of the Pistons has therefore chosen option 2. It is Adrian Wojnarowski, the insider ofESPNwho broke the news just following midnight.

A news that inevitably makes noise, but not really surprising for all that.

Already because the operation seems to be the best option for Cunningham to fully recover from this shin injury. Admittedly going to the pool table is never trivial, but an operation theoretically increases the chances of having a total recovery, and Cade’s long-term health is obviously the top priority in Detroit.

And then because the Pistons have nothing else to play for this year but a good place in the next NBA Draft. With a record of only 7 wins for 22 losses, Detroit finds itself once once more in the bottom of the Eastern Conference, so it is useless to force the return of Cunningham especially that a certain Victor Wembanyama will soon land on the other side of the Atlantic. If there is a season to tank, it’s this one and the Pistons have understood it.

So obviously, seeing the sophomore campaign come to an end so quickly for Cade Cunningham (only 12 games, 20 points – 6 rebounds – 6 assists on average) is not pleasant, he whom we imagined to cross a big milestone for his Year 2 with the Pistons. But it’s probably the wisest decision, and then let’s not forget that there is always the nugget Jaden Ivey and the Frenchie Killian Hayes to observe on the Detroit backcourt.

Come on, let’s give meet Cade Cunningham at training camp 2023with a brand new tibia.
