end of career? Guessing about Bayern legend Franck Ribéry

Will the Bayern legend stay with his current club? And how much longer will the French play? Different messages cause confusion. His club has now commented.

Franck Ribéry had almost said goodbye – and is now staying with the Italian first division soccer team US Salernitana. The club made that clear late Monday evening after some confusion about the former Bayern star. “In the past few hours, Franck Ribéry has had a change of heart,” said Salernitana sporting director Walter Sabatini in a video on the club’s website: “First he wanted to leave us, then he decided to stay with us.”

During the course of Monday, rumors circulated about the imminent end of the Frenchman’s career. Italian media reported Ribéry’s plans that he wanted to leave the club and end his career.

Ribéry’s advisor Alain Migliaccio then denied an immediate decision on “Sky Sport News”: “At the end of the season he will decide whether to stop or continue his career.” From the environment of the French it should be said: Ribéry wants to stay with Salernitana – and then announce his resignation in the summer.

From 2007 to 2019 Ribéry had for Bayern Munich played. The offensive player won nine German championships, six times the DFB Cup and one time with the Munich team Champions League. Before that, Galatasaray Istanbul and Olympique Marseille were among his employers.

In September 2021, the France winger joined Serie A promoted Salernitana on a year after his contract at Fiorentina was not renewed. Salernitana has only scored ten points in 22 league games and is bottom. Ribéry, plagued by injuries, only made 12 appearances. He is currently still absent due to a recently recovered corona infection.
