Through an official press release, ASVEL announced on Friday the dismissal of TJ Parker, who will therefore no longer be on the Villeurbanne bench this weekend. Gordon Herbert, the Canadian coach of world champion Germany, has given his approval to Tony Parker, who is now awaiting the green light from the German Federation.

End clap for TJ Parker (39 years old). After ten years on the ASVEL staff, including three as head coach, Tony Parker’s brother is packing his bags. In an official press release published Friday evening, the Villeurbanne club announced that TJ Parker had been dismissed from his duties immediately. A dismissal which comes the day after the new defeat of the Rhodaniens in the Euroleague, Thursday on the floor of Istanbul against Fenerbahçe, the fourth in as many matches in the competition this season for the team which finished in last place last year and has not won in the European Cup since January.

“Following this start to the season below expectations, the club management has taken the decision to part ways with its coach with immediate effect,” indicated the former French champion, specifying that Sunday for the arrival of Roanne at the Astroballe in the championship, the team would be led by a duo Jean-Christophe Prat and Pierric Poupet.

Waiting for Herbert?

A tandem made up of two former assistants temporarily promoted pending the possible arrival of Gordon Herbert. If the Canadian coach who led Germany to its first world title this summer has indeed given his agreement to Tony Parker, the latter must now wait for the green light from the German Federation so that the strong man of the Nationalmannschaft can style the hat of new coach of ASVEL in addition to that of coach of Germany. In the meantime, TJ Parker, for his part, can pack his bags.

The former Nancy player, crowned French champion with SLUC, is not leaving empty-handed. He leaves behind two titles, a Coupe de France and a Leaders Cup. A hell of a track record which has not yet resisted the wave of disillusionment in recent weeks.
