This sports sedan had modernized the South Korean range in 2017 and leaves us with a last edition produced in only 1000 copies.
The first rumors regarding the end of the Kia Stinger had already been whispered in 2019. This time it is (early) the end for the Kia Stinger, launched in 2017 on the European market. This large 5-door coupé has remained far too much in the shadow of the Audi A5 Sportback or BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. The South Korean leaves therefore, but not dare-dare (do you have it?).
Terracotta leather for 1000 copies
Indeed, the brand has announced, to pay tribute to the end of the Stinger, the production of a Tribute Edition, 1,000 copies. They will be sold in several markets which have not yet been detailed. It should be offered normally in the United States, the Americans having more acclaimed it than other clienteles.
The GT, which received a light restyling in 2021 and is powered by a 370-hp (366-hp) 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, will be available in matte gray (Moonscape), with 19-inch wheels. , Brembo brake calipers, and a touch of black once more for the mirror housings.
On the passenger side, Terracotta brown leather on the doors, the seats and for the seams brighten up, with a carbon effect on the central console, soberly the one that we will soon forget. The headrests will come with a wasp emblem, Stinger meaning dare. Finally, an exclusive and numbered plate will identify each Tribute copy, installed on the driver’s side door sill.
Sparse sales
As we said, the Stinger did not attract customers already turned to other models in the same segment. 1,229 were sold in Canada in 2021 (+ 9.2% compared to 2020), but it is almost three times less for the first six months of the year (491).
The Let’s EV6 did better over the same period with 529 units sold, an electric crossover which also overshadowed the sedan sold with us for 64,390 euros in the GT finish, with a large penalty of 32,000 euros.
