Heart stroke” A young artist and 21-year-old student of architecture in Fribourg, Manon Richard saw her interest in art born thanks to her parents, themselves very sensitive to the subject: “My father is a carpenter and my mother is an artist, so I would say that I always had that in me”, she explains.

In her early days, she only drew in pencil and was rather under the influence of a Japanese style. “Four years ago, I wanted to develop my pen style, stop focusing on realism and let the pen carry me, guide me and inspire me,” says the young artist. It was in 2019 that the student decided to launch herself on Instagram and to dedicate a profile to it under the pseudonym of Encre Noire to exhibit her art, in particular her various portraits of artists made in black pen.

Manon Richard shares her drawings on her Instagram account @encrenoire.rd

Thanks to this account, she might share her various compositions with those around her, but also expand her network: “Today, my customers can directly place an order via Instagram and see my various compositions,” she explains. Among these multiple opportunities, that of having been able to create the logo for the review La, an architecture magazine, the creation of a brand of t-shirts, as well as a striking project on the theme of anxiety: ” it was a very inspiring project for me, the theme touched me particularly. I had carte blanche and I am proud of the result”, she shares with emotion.

Regarding the negative aspects, the young artist raises her personal doubts: “There are many times when I wondered regarding the reason for this account on Instagram”, she confides. Added to this is the lack of time to be able to fully invest in it as she would like: “I try to have a weekly rhythm of publication, but when I have busy weeks, I can’t do it and It’s very frustrating,” she says. But for the artist, these aspects do not take precedence over the positive points: “In the end, you have to believe in yourself, put yourself into it and go all the way,” she says. “We must never stop creating, especially when it brings us good.”
