The man barricaded himself in Encino Hospital Medical Center following the attack in the emergency room, said LAPD deputy chief Alan S. Hamilton. He was detained following 7:30 p.m. local time. A police spokesman said without specifying the exact time
The first call at 3:50 PM reported a deadly armed attack in the emergency room. which is where the victim was stabbed, police said.
Two of the victims are in stable condition while a third is in critical condition. and is currently undergoing surgery said hamilton
The first floor and other relevant areas of the hospital have been evacuated. as well as an office building across the street. said hamilton
The suspect is an adult male who has had multiple contacts with police, Hamilton said, including two arrests for assaulting an officer. It was not immediately clear what the suspect’s motives were. But police said he appeared to be seeking some sort of treatment.
Police said there was no immediate information regarding the suspect’s condition.
