Enable seniors to enter the digital world and accompany them sustainably

Press release from 03/17/2023

Digitization in society is constantly progressing. However, many older people are often unable to keep up with this development and need help or advice when purchasing tablets, smartphones and the like. But simply purchasing the devices is not enough. A further step is the setup and safe handling of the newly acquired technology.

Betzdorf. After the “Digital Participation/Everyday Competence” project has already been successfully carried out several times through the cooperation of volunteers and full-time employees, the VG Betzdorf-Gebhardshain would like to start the next course. Specialists accompany and support the participants in setting up and using tablet devices. Of course, the social contacts within the group are not neglected.

The aim is to work with uniform learning or entry-level devices (Android operating system), which is why the participants are asked to coordinate with those responsible before purchasing or registering for the course. If help is needed with the purchase, we will be happy to help.

The next course should start by arrangement around mid/end of April. The exact start date depends on the number of registrations. Participation is free. The meeting point is the JUB youth office in Betzdorf, Viktoriastr. 25, 57518 Betzdorf.

Interested citizens can contact Virginia Schäfer or Christina Heimlich by telephone on 02741/291-427 or 411 or by e-mail: [email protected]. (PM)
