Members of his family, including his father, received several messages of support on Sunday.
The majority of people on the spot are asking for concrete actions from the government to reduce the wave of violence which has claimed four victims among teenagers in the Metropolis over the past year.
Amir Benayad’s little brother took the floor to deliver a poignant testimony.
“He was a good guy, we took his life, it’s unfair. He wasn’t even involved, he wasn’t doing anything. We were waiting for summer, we were supposed to go out, we were going to the hairdresser today. He was a good guy,” said his brother emotionally.
In addition to this, Mustapha Ouadhi, the father of young Hani who was shot dead in December, and Sam Bouchoul, the brother-in-law of Meriem Boundaou who was also shot, spoke at the rally.
The event was held at the intersection of Roy and Rivard streets, in the Plateau Mont-Royal borough, where the 17-year-old was shot.
