Affected by a rare illness, the head of a Brazilian woman continues to grow; at his bedside, his mother assures us that she “will love him until the last day of his life”.
Graziely Alves suffers from hydrocephalus, which is an accumulation of fluid in the deep cavities of the brain, resulting in the increase in size of the ventricles, explains the Mayo Clinic.
The head of the person affected by this condition can thus quickly swell to an “unusual” size.

Graziely’s mother, Adalgisa Soares Alves, 48, laments that her daughter is constantly mocked or ridiculed because of her illness.
The anomaly occurs
Ms Alves first realized something was wrong following experiencing abdominal pain while pregnant with Graziely, the eldest of three children.
The discomfort kept increasing; At eight months pregnant, Ms Alves had trouble getting out of bed, reports the New York Post.
An ultrasound revealed Graziely had an abnormally large head for a newborn, following which doctors revealed the diagnosis.
Doctors also estimated that Graziely would only live a few months.
However, she defied the predictions.
An inspiring journey
Graziely is 29 years old today. And even though life is not a picnic, her family is happy that she is still here.
As his head continued to swell throughout his life, Graziely is now unable to walk, speak or see, despite the surgeries.
She also needs 24-hour care.
It is her mother who takes care of her full time, who feeds her, cleans her, gives her her bath.
Graziely is also unfortunately the victim of hurtful remarks. Even doctors can be insensitive, says the mother.
“When they talk regarding his ‘big head’, I feel sad,” laments Ms. Alves, for whom “it’s just cruel.”
However, Ms. Alves does not let herself be discouraged by these remarks or by those of Internet users.
“The important thing is that me, our family and our friends love Graziely as she is,” she mentioned.
In an effort to raise awareness of Graziely’s condition, Ms Alves frequently posts videos and photos of her daughter on Instagram.

“I am devoted to Graziely and it makes me happy to see her well cared for, by me and our whole family. I’m happy to take care of her and it’s gratifying to see her smile,” added the devoted mother.
To raise awareness of her baby’s condition, Alves frequently posts videos and photos of her pride and joy on her Instagram page, which has more than 8,000 followers.
