A condo building in Brossard was heavily damaged by a fire on Thursday, throwing a total of 27 people into the street.
The fire started around 3:50 p.m. on the second floor of the building located on rue Riverin, not far from avenue Radisson. Faced with the strength of the blaze, the Longueuil agglomeration fire safety service (SSIAL) quickly asked for reinforcements.
“A firefighter who injured his foot during the intervention was transported to a hospital, but his life is not in danger,” added SSIAL spokesperson Alain Lessard.
The 27 evacuees will either be cared for by the Red Cross or by family members.
