EMY: Thunderstorms and hailstorms throughout the country, the forecast

Severe weather with lots of rain and storms across the country will occur tomorrow Friday (30.08.2024). The temperature will drop with a maximum reading of 32 degrees Celsius, while the winds will be strong and will reach 6 Beaufort.

Heavy rains and storms are predicted in the morning hours in the Ionian Islands, from midday until the evening hours in many areas of the country. The temperature will see a slight further drop. In the mainland, the Ionian, the Dodecanese and Crete it will reach 30 to 32 and locally 33 degrees and in the rest of the island country 28 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Hail and rain will be more intense in Epirus, Peloponnese, Central Greece (mainly in central and eastern parts, including Attica), Evia, Sporades, Thessaly, central Macedonia (mainly in Halkidiki) and eastern Macedonia .

The phenomena will be accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and local hailstorms and temporarily by very strong winds (gusts). The winds will blow from north directions 3 to 5, locally in the eastern Aegean 6 Beaufort and gradually west northwest with the same intensity.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIROS, WEST STEREA, WEST PELOPONNISOS
Weather: Initially in the morning hours in the Ionian Islands and from midday hours in the rest of the areas clouds temporarily increased with rain and sporadic storms. The effects will be locally strong from the morning hours on the Ionian Islands and from midday to the evening hours on the mainland. A temporary weakening is expected late in the evening.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 Beaufort and in the Ionian Northwest 4, locally 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 19 to 30 degrees and on the mainland in places up to 32 degrees Celsius. In the interior of Epirus the minimum will be 3 to 4 degrees lower.

EASTERN STEREA, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNISOS
Weather: A few clouds, which will gradually increase and from midday until the evening hours there will be rain and sporadic storms in places strong in Central Greece (mainly in the central and eastern parts, including Attica), Evia and the eastern Peloponnese.
A temporary improvement is expected in the evening hours.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 Beaufort and in the East Northeast 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 18 to 33 degrees Celsius.

CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: In the Cyclades, generally sunny. In Crete initially generally clear with temporary clouds in the midday and afternoon hours when there will be local rain and possible isolated storms.
Winds: North northwest 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 24 to 31 and in southern Crete up to 33 degrees Celsius.

EAST AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANISE
Weather: In the Dodecanese, generally sunny with a few passing clouds in the afternoon – afternoon. In the islands of the eastern Aegean few clouds temporarily increased with local rain or isolated storms in the midday and afternoon hours.
Winds: North northwest 4 to 5, in the south local 6 Beaufort that will gradually turn to west northwest with the same intensity.
Temperature: From 22 to 32 degrees Celsius.

THESSALY
Weather: A few clouds that will gradually increase and from midday until the evening hours there will be rain and sporadic storms, strong in places on the mainland and the Sporades. A temporary improvement is forecast late in the evening.
Winds: Northerly 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 20 to 30 degrees and in the Sporades up to 28 degrees Celsius.

ATTICA
Weather: A few clouds, which will gradually increase and from noon until the evening hours there will be rain and sporadic storms, strong in places.
Improvement is predicted late in the evening.
Winds: Northerly 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 22 to 30 degrees Celsius.

THESSALONIKI
Weather: A few clouds that will increase in the midday and afternoon hours and there will be rain and sporadic storms, strong in places. Improvement is predicted late in the evening.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 21 to 29 degrees Celsius.
