A few weeks ago, we were talking regarding the return of emulators to Xbox consoles in Retail mode. Against a few euros per month, a team of developers offered to circumvent the limitations of the store in order to install many emulators without having to switch your console to developer mode. Unfortunately, today we learn that Microsoft has taken action, and the team announces the end of its work.

Emulation on Xbox Retail is over!

It is via a message initially posted on Discord and then quickly broadcast on Twitter
we hear the news. Microsoft is currently banning players who have emulators installed on their Retail console. This ban is only 15 days but sounds like a warning from the firm.

As a result, the team behind the return of the emulators is announcing a halt to its work, as well as the closure of the Patreon on which players had to pay each month.

She also strongly advises users to remove emulators from their console and apologizes to those whose accounts are currently suspended.

It is also specified that those who would like to offer new emulators on Retail consoles in the future risk the permanent ban from their console
.

Consoles in “developer” mode are not affected

If you’ve installed emulators on your Xbox but it’s in developer mode, don’t panic. Indeed, these measures only concern Retail consoles and you can therefore continue to enjoy your emulators.

If you want to try the emulation experience on Xbox, you will find all the information you need in our dedicated file.

Remember, however, that it is necessary to pay for a license and that setting up emulators is more tedious. However, you will be able to play your PS2, GameCube, Dreamcast and other games without hassle, at least for now.
