Empowerment of Rural Women for sustainable development is the central theme of the First National Forum

Asunción, IP Agency.- The First National Forum of Rural Women takes place from this Wednesday the 23rd to Friday the 25th, in the city of Pilar, Ñeembucú, with the aim of contributing to empowerment for sustainable development.

Organized by the Ministries of Women and the Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES), in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, in commemoration of the International Day of Rural Women and within the framework of the actions of the Interinstitutional Commission for the Application of the Law No. 5446/15 Public Policies for Rural Women (CIAL) and the Paraguay + Green Project.

The objectives of this forum, which will begin with two workshop days, are to strengthen the capacities of rural women for their access and use of policy instruments regarding productive, financial and technological services, in harmony with the environment, education, health , social protection, food security and social and productive infrastructure provided by the State.

It also seeks to rescue the interests, needs and expectations of rural women, in relation to natural, productive resources and the environment. Likewise, form the Rural Women’s Network as a national mechanism for monitoring the application of the aforementioned regulations and promote the visibility, empowerment, and leadership of rural women and recognize their leadership in the application of the REDD+ mechanism.

This event aimed at rural women leaders from the Western and Eastern Regions and the Specialized Meeting of Family Farming, seeks to highlight the important role they have in the conservation and preservation of the environment and fundamentally, forests, water and biodiversity. .

The CIAL is the strategic technical work body for the purposes of articulating actions for the effective application of the Law for rural women, which is chaired by the Ministry of Women and is made up of 33 public institutions.

The expected results of this meeting include the formation of a national Rural Women’s Network, to monitor the exercise of their rights to access and use policy instruments; the application of the CIAL from a social and environmental safeguards approach; and governing institutions of public policies, which know the main priorities and needs of rural women.

To close the forum, on Friday the 25th, the presentation of the Ninth National Law Enforcement Report in question will be held, in commemoration of the International Day of Rural Women, on the esplanade of the Cabildo de Pilar Museum.

Representatives of public institutions from the Women’s Ministries will participate; Environment and Sustainable Development; Agriculture and Livestock; National Forestry Institute; of Economy and Finance; Agricultural Habilitation Credit; National Institute of Rural and Land Development, which make up the CIAL and which are 33 public entities.

United Nations Agencies such as the United Nations Environment Program will also be represented; the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Paraguay + Verde arises in recognition of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from land use changes between 2015 and 2017.
