Empowering Youth in Martinique: Navigating the Digital World with Artificial Intelligence

2024-01-13 06:30:01

The digital transition is shaking up our habits at a remarkable speed in Martinique as elsewhere. The latest arrival is artificial intelligence. The challenges in terms of activity and productivity are immense, hence the importance of knowing how to use them. A digitalization seminar was held at the Lumina Sophie high school in Schœlcher for two days, with conferences and workshops. (Re)see the report by Nathalie Jos and Eddy Bellerose.

It’s their world and it’s the one in which they will evolve. Digital tools, social networks, artificial intelligence, a new universe that is emerging for these young people, but in which you will have to know how to navigate.

Giving them the tools to navigate the proliferation of tools and information in the maze of social networks, such is the objective of the two professors who initiated the conference.

The interest is really to allow our students to meet quality professionals, who are specialists in their fields, but also through a certain “Learning by doing”, since they are stakeholders in the organization of the seminar, to develop behavioral skills, these famous “soft skills”, even “mad skills”, which are really important now for the professional world.

They must learn to discover the real tools in their hands. These are not just gaming tools, nor tools to go faster and help you cheat, perhaps, during an assignment, but they can really be professional tools, with limits.

Myriam Bertole, professor of economics and management

With this knowledge and expert analysis, the students clearly understood the challenges of digital technology.

It can be very scary, given the things you can do for good or bad. But, I think that if we use them well, it can really help us.

Visits and workshops were also on the program for this seminar, so that young people might intelligently appropriate these new tools.
