Empowering Women in Marrakech-Safi: Launch of Jisr Digital Platform for Leadership and Autonomy

Marrakech – The digital platform of the “Jisr for empowerment and leadership” program, aimed at facilitating the empowerment of women in the Marrakech-Safi region, was launched on Friday in the ocher city, during a meeting held in presence of the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, Aawatif Hayar.

The launch of this platform comes in application of the High Royal Guidelines and the commitments contained in the 2021-2026 government program, and is part of the partnership agreement concluded between the ministry, the wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region and the Regional Council, for the implementation of a qualification and empowerment program for women project leaders and people with disabilities.

This program aims to develop female entrepreneurship and facilitate women’s access to the labor market, through their support and training at the territorial level in order to improve their expertise and skills in the field of business creation. and reducing social and regional disparities.

In a speech on this occasion, Mrs Hayar explained that the launch of this platform marks an important step in the process of implementing this programme, which is the result of the efforts of all the territorial actors at the level of the region.

Noting that the Kingdom has made the issue of women and the guarantee of their rights a major priority, as evidenced by the particular interest given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the promotion of women’s conditions, Ms. Hayar also underlined that the government ensures the execution of the High Royal Guidelines in order to ensure gender equality and the promotion of the empowerment of women, by working to guarantee them access to their political, economic and social rights. and environmental, in accordance with the Constitution, the recommendations of the New Development Model and the commitments of the 2021-2026 government program.

After highlighting the important contribution of the Marrakech-Safi region to the creation of national wealth, as the first tourist destination in the Kingdom and thanks to the great potential it abounds in various fields, the Minister noted that the activity rate of women compared to men in this region remains low compared to the national average with 21.6% once morest 75.2%.

This is an indicator that challenges us all to make more efforts and work for the empowerment of women, the strengthening of their participation in development and the reduction of existing disparities, she continued. .

As part of adherence to the social dynamics experienced by the region, the ministry attaches great importance to reducing the deficit in these areas in this part of the national territory, she added, stressing that in In the area of ​​strengthening the social protection system, the region currently ranks first at the national level in terms of the number of social centers (517) and the number of beneficiaries (48,966, including children, women, people special needs and elderly).

For his part, the wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, Karim Kassi-Lahlou indicated that this partnership between the ministry, the wilaya and the council of the region, is intended as a model of convergence between the development program of the region and the axes of the national program for the economic empowerment of women, which will certainly contribute to improving the rate of activity of women in the region.

Mr. Kassi-Lahlou explained that the economic empowerment of women in the region is one of the expectations expressed by territorial actors during the regional consultation meeting on the strategy of the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family and related institutions, adding that the ultimate goal is to provide women with access to income, training and capital in order to strengthen their place in society and their contribution to economic development.

For his part, the President of the Regional Council, Samir Goudar noted that the launch of this platform comes within the framework of the implementation of the High Royal Guidelines and the recommendations of the New Development Model which emphasizes the place of the region as a center of convergence for sectoral policies, noting that this program will make it possible to increase the activity rate of women to 30% by 2026.

In a speech read on his behalf, he highlighted the efforts made by the various actors and stakeholders in the region to improve human development indicators, in particular by ensuring the improvement of the economic and social conditions of the categories deprived, to fight once morest poverty, precariousness, social exclusion and school wastage, to strengthen access to health services and infrastructures, and to reduce territorial disparities.

As for the director of Entraide Nationale, Khettar El Mojahidi, he insisted on the permanent action and the constant mobilization of this institution alongside the various actors to ensure the success of this ambitious program, which will contribute to the construction of the social state and will make it possible to strengthen the contribution of the social center and to improve the rate of integration of women from 20% to more than 30% and this, in the service of the Kingdom and of the citizens, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI.

The director of the Social Development Agency, Fatima Hmamou, for her part, expressed the wish to see this meeting create a favorable environment and an appropriate framework for finding effective solutions and exploring promising prospects capable of enabling young people and women’s skills to contribute to the development of Morocco.

This meeting was punctuated by the presentation of the electronic platform “Jisr for empowerment and leadership”, the launch of a call for expressions of interest for reference social incubators in the Marrakech-Safi region, and the delivery of checks to beneficiaries carrying projects of the “Al Haouz Mobadara” program and to people with disabilities carrying projects within the framework of the Support Fund for Protection and Social Cohesion.
