In the framework of the proposed action, the following can be implemented indicatively and according to the relevant studies:
- Projects to preserve the geometric elements of the cross-sections of the bed (stream-stream-river), and consequently its drainage capacity against floods
- Technical works
- Reinforcement of slopes
- Construction of terraces, smoothing of slopes, etc.
THE Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Mr. Nikos Papathanasis emphasized: “In the context of the wider interventions and the Government’s strategy aimed at the immediate and long-term response to the consequences of the Climate Crisis, the competent Special Secretariat for the Management of Programs of the European Regional Development Fund – Cohesion Fund of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance proceeded to issuing an invitation for the construction of new flood protection projects, and for the submission of proposals to the “Environment and Climate Change” program of the NSRF 2021-2027.
These actions, with a total budget of 260 million euros, are aimed at anti-flood protection in areas that have been affected by catastrophic events caused by the Climate Crisis. They are coming, to be added to the €686 million projects that we included in the revision of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” for the reconstruction of the affected areas in Evros and Thessaly.
