Microsoft opens registration for the Imagine Cup 2025 startup competition

Microsoft is open for registration for Imagine Cup 2025, a global cloud and Artificial Intelligence technology and innovation competition. With the theme “Dream. Create. Viva”, the competition is open to students from all over the world who want to submit their startup projects with AI-driven solutions built on Microsoft Cloud.

Registration is open until October 31st on this website and participants will compete for a prize of US$100,000 and a mentoring session with Microsoft Chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella.

Imagine Cup Microsoft’s global competition aims to reward startup projects that create innovative cloud and AI solutions

Launched in 2003, the Imagine Cup aims to encourage creativity, innovative thinking and the development of technological solutions that address global problems and promote a positive impact on society through technology.

Groups of up to four students aged 18 or over and who are regularly enrolled in a Higher Education institution can participate in the Imagine Cup 2025. Until October 31st, students will be able to submit their ideas and have the chance to win a mentoring session with an industry expert, in which the winner will have the opportunity to collect feedback on their idea and proposed business model.

Starting in November, all registrants must participate in the mandatory stage that challenges students to develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP): a functional version of their idea, to bring their solution to market readiness. Featured products must be built with one or more Microsoft AI services to operate, such as Azure Open AI Service and Azure AI Studio.

Content must be sent by January 22, 2025 and the selected teams will be announced by the end of February.

Semifinalists will receive access to additional resources to accelerate their growth, including mentoring and expert guidance in the Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub. At this stage, projects will undergo a technical assessment to ensure that the solutions are fully functional, as well as a live presentation to a jury.

The three selected startups will participate in the grand final in May 2025, during the Microsoft Build event, taking place in the United States.

Microsoft promotes Live at Imagine Cup 2025 with participants from previous editions

To celebrate the 2025 edition of the Imagine Cup, Microsoft will promote a live broadcast on October 21st at 7pm (Brasília time). Jamil Lopes, Imagine Cup judge since 2003, will welcome some participants from previous editions for a chat and share insights into the structure, objectives and benefits of the competition, as well as tips for success.
