Employment in Luxembourg: Unease on the Place: more than one in two employees has already thought of leaving the sector
LUXEMBOURG – According to a survey carried out by the OGBL, more than 52% of employees in the financial sector have already wanted a change of scenery.
The OGBL surveyed employees in the financial sector to find out their state of mind and the least we can say is that morale is not really in good shape: more than 52% of the 456 respondents already had the desire to leave the financial sector and 20.5% even thought regarding it “very often”. A more marked desire in the insurance sector than in the banking sector. It should be noted that the people who responded to the survey had, on average, 22 years of seniority in the sector and had worked for their company for 16 years.
One of the motivations for this desire to leave? While they earn between 5,000 and 6,000 euros per month, only 32.2% of them found their income adequate in relation to their performance, which means that more than two thirds were not satisfied with their remuneration .
40% are afraid of losing their job
In addition, they consider that the training offer is insufficient: 65.1% believe that their company does not provide them with the appropriate means to evolve. More than half believe that their work does not allow them to develop their skills and knowledge and only 17.7% think that they can get a promotion! More than a third answered “Not at all” to the question “Do you have promotion possibilities in your company?”.
Many would also like to better reconcile professional and personal life: 45% believe that two days of teleworking would be ideal, while 41% of respondents did not even benefit from one day per week. If more than 77% consider having the right to disconnect, 18% indicate that they often work on weekends and evenings. More than half answer that they are forced to work overtime. With a sword of Damocles over their heads for more than 40% of them: that of going to work every day with the fear of losing their job.
