Employment Agreement with Kuwait; President of the Philippines will check if there are any irregularities

Kuwait City | Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos (Jr.) has stated that he will examine whether there are any irregularities in the labor agreement with Kuwait. He also said that they have decided to hold bilateral talks with the Kuwaiti government immediately. The President of the Philippines was speaking to the media following attending the funeral of Jollibee Ranaro, a Filipino maid who was killed in Kuwait last week. The talks will further strengthen the bilateral labor agreement between the two countries.

Marcos also expressed hope that his citizens would never have to experience such things once more. He promised all necessary help to the family of the murdered woman. The government will provide study assistance to all four children of the victim. They had big dreams for their children. He understands that in order to fulfill this, they had to go to work in a foreign country. The President added that the government is committed to making Rinaro’s dreams come true.

Jollibee Ranora’s charred body was found in the Salmi desert last week. A 17-year-old Kuwaiti boy was arrested in the case. In the post-mortem report, it was found that the woman was sexually assaulted. The accused had confessed that he had raped and killed the woman and left the body in the desert following burning it. Following the incident, members of the Philippine Congress demanded a halt to sending workers from the Philippines to Kuwait.
