HC Gröden played its second test match for the new season on Wednesday evening. In the end, emotions ran high.

The Furie met Cortina once more, who was the opponent in the first test a week ago. Back then Val Gardena lost 3:5, this time there was a 2:3 defeat following a penalty shootout.

David Musial’s team went into the second friendly of the season without Colin Furlong, Brad McGowan, Terrance Amorosa, Michael Sullmann, Christian Willeit, Michael Sölva and Patrick Nocker, but with Jerry Sammalisto. This took place in front of a great backdrop and once more offered entertaining ice hockey.

Both teams went at a high pace from the start, there were chances on both sides. The first of these opportunities was used by Yuri Cristello, who benefited from a perfect pass from Max Oberrauch when he scored his first goal in the HCG dress. Because Paul Hofer held strong in the first period, the first period was paused with a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Cortina increased the pace, resulting in two goals being conceded. But the fury reacted promptly: Matteo Luisetti released Samuel Moroder, which was worth seeing, the latter only had to hold out the trowel and insert it into the empty goal – 2:2 following 40 minutes.

Players are fighting each other

In the last third both gave nothing, sometimes it was hard to the point. The game did not have a friendly character. The players quarreled in the last few minutes in particular, which resulted in many penalty minutes. However, the Furie survived many outnumbered situations with flying colours. And so it finally went into the penalty shootout without overtime, in which Cortina kept the upper hand.
