Emmanuelle Vicaigne, a permanent commitment to student health

Alongside the students

The SSE is an interuniversity service co-managed by Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris Cité and Sorbonne Nouvelle. It is made up of a team of health professionals mobilized throughout the year for the health and well-being of students. Doctor Emmanuelle Vicaigne joined this service a year ago. “I managed a university health service for almost thirteen years. I am familiar with student health issues as well as the functioning of a university and its services. »

Five branches welcome students in Paris. “At the Saint-Charles center, we are a team made up of a secretary, a psychologist, a general practitioner, a nurse and a psychiatrist. »

The SSE offers consultations in general medicine, sport and health, recommendations for accommodations for students with disabilities, psychological help and even nutrition and sexual health. “I am also a tobacco specialist. I can receive information on this subject, but also support various prevention events.» In addition to the many themes covered, the service offers health, prevention and information activities during the academic year.

Students from the three partner universities can go to the five SSE branches. “Appointments are made on Doctolib. The consultation is free of charge. The student must provide their vital card and their mutual insurance certificate.», Specifies Doctor Emmanuelle Vicaigne.

« Here, as in any practice, we respect medical confidentiality. It is important to us to support students.» Beyond the university curriculum, «the objective is to be at their side so that they can successfully complete their studies, give them the perspective of their life after and so that they can be the most free and autonomous professionals possible.»

During a consultation, the health professional will be able to guide the student if necessary. “We have a lot of resources within the service, but also partnerships such as with the French Student Health Foundation. »

Doctor Emmanuelle Vicaigne is thus beginning a new year serving students, alongside a committed and determined team to improve access to care for students.
