Moscow. March 14th. INTERFAX.RU – Russia is currently a rival of France, President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday evening in an interview with French television channels.

At the same time, he emphasized that “we are not waging a war against Russia.” At the same time, Macron warned that “we will be ready to respond in the event of an escalation from Russia.”

The French President suggested that if the Russian operation in Ukraine is successful, “the lives of the French will change. There will no longer be security in Europe.”

Macron does not yet believe that the current situation in Ukraine requires sending French troops there, but does not rule out such a decision.

“We are not sure that we will do this. We are not in that situation at the moment, but we do not exclude this option now,” Macron said.

“I admit that I admit this possibility,” the president continued.

Macron also suggested that the EU could take additional initiatives to help Ukraine if the country faces new difficulties on the battlefield. “It cannot be ruled out that we will approve new initiatives at the European level,” he said in an interview with French television channels.

“If the situation worsens, we will be ready,” he added. Macron once again emphasized that he considers it important to prevent Russia from winning in Ukraine.
