## Archyde Exclusive: Martin Short on Joining the SNL Five-Timers Club

**archyde: Congratulations on joining the prestigious Five-Timers Club, Martin! It’s been decades since your first SNL appearance, and this is a phenomenal milestone. What does this honor mean to you?**

**Martin Short:** (chuckles) Well,I must admit,it’s incredibly hilariously gratifying. To think that Lorne Michaels hasn’t fully grown tired of me after all these years is truly a testament to either his enduring good nature or his utter desperation for material.

**Archyde: *Laughs*. That trademark wit is still as sharp as ever! But seriously, what does this honor represent to you in terms of your career and your legacy?**

**Martin Short:** It’s definitely a humbling experience being inducted into a club alongside so many comedy legends – Tom hanks, Steve martin, Alec Baldwin – names that have left an indelible mark on the world of humor. I feel incredibly lucky to be in their company. And ultimately, SNL has always held a special place in my heart. It’s where I started honing my craft, pushing boundaries, and discovering what truly makes me laugh.

**Archyde: Your career has been incredibly diverse, from the slapstick brilliance of ‘Three Amigos!’ to the heartwarming charm of ‘Father of the Bride’. How would you describe your journey as a comedian?**

**Martin Short:** it’s been a glorious whirlwind of experimentation, collaboration, and thankfully, a lot of laughter along the way. I’ve always been drawn to characters that are both funny and empathetic – the kind that can make you roar with laughter one moment and shed a tear the next. Life is full of contradictions, and I believe comedy should reflect that complexity.

**Archyde: Speaking of contradictions, you seamlessly transition between physical comedy and witty wordplay, creating a unique comedic style. Where did this versatility come from?

**Martin Short:** I think it stems from my early days with Second City. Improv teaches you to think fast, be adaptable, and embrace the unexpected. you’re constantly pushed to be spontaneous, to try different things, and to never take yourself too seriously. Those lessons have stayed with me throughout my career.

**Archyde: Looking back on your five hosting experiences at SNL, what stands out as the most memorable moment?

**Martin Short:** Honestly, just being back on that iconic stage with that astonishing cast and crew is always surreal and exhilarating. But I vividly remember skit with Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig where we were portraying inept Shakespearean actors. That was pure comedic bliss!

**Archyde: Any advice for aspiring comedians hoping to one day join the Five-Timers Club themselves?

**Martin Short:** Be fearless, be original, and above all, be kind. Surround yourself with talented collaborators, trust your instincts, and never be afraid to fail. because in comedy, failure is often the path to brilliance.

**Archyde: Thank you for sharing your insights, Martin. We raise a glass to you and your felicitious inclusion in the Five-Timers Club!**
