Officials revealed that the number of natives in the private sector has crossed 90,000 with the addition of 13,000 jobs in the last six months. After the implementation of the Swadeshi program in September 2021, the number of Emiratis in the private sector has increased by 157 percent.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation appreciated the commitment of more than 19,000 companies that have employed expatriates. Meanwhile, with the implementation of the law requiring the appointment of natives in small firms, it is expected that the number of natives will increase once more this year. It was suggested that private companies with 20 to 49 employees should hire a native from January.
Next year one more native should also be appointed. Earlier, indigenization was implemented in organizations with more than 50 employees. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has identified 12,000 private companies with 20-49 employees in the country. According to this, 12,000 new jobs will be created for the natives in the coming years.
96,000 dirhams will be charged from the institution in January 2025 if no appointment is made. In 2025, in addition to the current Swadeshi employee, another Swadeshi should be appointed. Failure to do so will result in a fine of Dhs 1,08,000 in January 2026. The indigenization proposal has been applied to small private enterprises in 14 regions.
