Aisha Muhammad Al-Mulla, member of the Federal National Council, head of the Parliamentary Division of the Council group in the Mediterranean Parliament, participated in the session “Threats to Energy Security: Ensuring Affordable Supplies, within the framework of environmental transformation and sustainable development goals in the face of climate change”, as part of the works Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf region held in the Kingdom of Morocco.
Aisha Al Mulla said in the speech of the UAE Parliamentary Division, “Perhaps climate change poses a strong long-term threat to the people and societies of the world, especially in light of the negative changes affecting human life and the planet. There are large numbers that die annually due to climate changes, in addition to 20% of marine life species.” Endangered”.
She pointed out that “the majority of the adverse effects of climate change are suffered by poor and low-income societies around the world, especially since there are more than 50 developing countries in the world that are not responsible for more than 1% of greenhouse gas emissions, and therefore there has become an urgent necessity.” To switch to clean energy and make possible efforts to stop global warming.
“The COP 28 conference, which will be held in the UAE on November 17, 2023, will be a real opportunity to overcome all obstacles and challenges facing the world in proposing firm and final solutions to represent this danger,” she said, stressing the importance of the role of parliaments in addressing this phenomenon, which requires speedy preparation of a study of legislation. necessary for each country in accordance with its constitutional and legal requirements for the transition to the use of clean and renewable energy and urging governments to achieve the provisions of the Paris Agreement, and what was reached at the Climate Summit COP 27 held in Sharm El-Sheikh, stressing the importance of the role of parliamentary oversight on government policies and strategies in this regard.

Dr. Hind Hamid Al-Alayli, member of the Federal National Council, deputy head of the Parliamentary Division of the Council in the Mediterranean Parliament, also participated in the session “Overcoming Obstacles, the Digital Divide, the Contribution of Logistics and Artificial Intelligence, and Measures to Facilitate Trade and Investment”, within the work of the Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Eurozone.
