Ras Al Khaimah: Adnan Okasha
He died in Ras Al Khaimah, Rashid Ahmed Rashid Al Zahmari Al Shamili, at the age of 100, making him one of the oldest people in the emirate over the past years.
Saeed Rashid Al-Shumaili, the son of the deceased, told Al-Khaleej: “His father was born in their region, Shamal, in 1923 AD, where his first house was in Wadi Haqil, with its mountainous nature, and it is the first house built from bricks in the region, following the establishment of the union and the establishment of state, before moving to another house in the same valley,” noting that his father married once, and he has 3 children, two boys and a girl, and he has a total of 49 grandchildren, from the children of his sons and their sons.
Rashid Al-Shumaili was known, according to the narration of his son and the people of the region, for his wisdom and his role in reconciliation between the disputants, and he lived a healthy life, and enjoyed health and wellness for many years, before he was attacked by some diseases in the last years of his life, including asthma and diseases of old age, and he used to work as a farmer in an orchard and farm. He owns them, where he grows date palms and various other varieties of vegetables, and in his youth he used to travel very long and record distances on foot, similar to the people of his generation, as he moved from “Shaml” in Ras Al Khaimah to “Dibba”, and from “Shaml” to “Khasab”. In the Sultanate of Oman, while he begins his day by waking up before dawn, to perform prayers in the mosque, then goes directly to his farm, where he is engaged in work, before his health gradually deteriorates regarding 10 years ago.
And he was in his diet, not satisfied with food except what was natural, from what he was familiar with since his childhood, and from it a large part of what was produced by his farm and manor in the region, along with some other basic foodstuffs from the market, such as “bread” and others, and what was prepared and cooked at home only He does not eat ready-made and canned foods and fast food, and “dates” are the master of his table, while he is keen to eat milk, yogurt, “brown” bread, or the local “tannour” bread, prepared from Emirati mountain wheat, and municipal meat, most of which he owned and raised from cattle.
And “Muammar Shamal” had never smoked any “cigarette” during his long life, while his father also lived and lived to a late age.
