Emirati astronaut, Sultan Al Neyadi, has returned safely to Earth after spending a record-breaking 186 days in space.

Sultan Al Neyadi and his crewmates made it to the planet on September 3, when they ran aground off Jacksonville, Florida.

The Dragon spacecraft, carrying Al Neyadi and three other Space-X Crew-6 astronauts, one of NASA’s newest crew rotation flights, undocked from the International Space Station on 3 September, bringing home the four team members deployed on a historic space mission for the past six months.

After landing, the craft was towed to the recovery vessel, and Al Neyadi was the last to leave the craft an hour later.

Once the medicals are complete and the astronauts are deemed OK, they will fly to Houston where family members will be waiting for them to give them a big ride home. Al Neyadi’s relatives, including his father, brothers and wife, as well as officials from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC), will all be ready to welcome him.

The entire journey, from undocking to landing, was streamed live on the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center website for all those eagerly awaiting its return. NASA also provided live coverage, from the hatches down to the end of the flight.
