Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)– The Emirati academic, Abdul Khaliq Abdullah, described Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi as “the spiritual father of the Muslim Brotherhood, who was famous for his fatwas that incite violence and blasphemy.”
Abdullah said, via his Twitter account, on Monday: “The death of the 96-year-old cleric Youssef Al-Qaradawi, the spiritual father of the Muslim Brotherhood, who was famous for his fatwas that incite violence and blasphemy.”
He added that Yusuf al-Qaradawi “led during the Arab Spring a campaign of abuse, hatred and mobilization once morest the stability of the Emirates, although the Emirates honored him and welcomed him well.”
It is noteworthy that the International Union of Muslim Scholars announced, earlier on Monday, the death of Al-Qaradawi, who served as the former president of the Union.
This came in a statement by the union, which it posted on its Twitter account, in which he said: “Go to the mercy of God, His Eminence, Imam Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the founding president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, who gave his life explaining the provisions of Islam.”
He added: “The Islamic nation has lost a realizing scholar from among its loyal and virtuous scholars.
