BERLIN, June 14 / WAM / The rise in fuel and food prices has led to an increase in the inflation rate in Germany, unprecedented in fifty years.
And the Federal Statistics Office announced that prices rose last May by 7.9 percent compared to the same month last year, and thus the inflation rate continued to rise for the third month in a row in the largest European economy.
This is the first time that inflation in the Federal Republic of Germany has reached this level since the two parts of the country were unified, knowing that West Germany recorded this level of inflation in the winter of 1973-1974.
The statistics office confirmed that this inflation had a significant impact on the purchasing power of citizens in Germany.
