ABU DHABI, 9th December, 2020 (WAM) — Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” the activities of the G20 Interfaith Forum will be launched in the capital, Abu Dhabi, next Monday, jointly organized by the G20 Religious Values ​​Association and the Alliance of Religions for Societal Security. The UAE hosts this important event as part of its continuous efforts to encourage global convergence, exchange of cultures, and to enhance its global leadership position.

The forum, which is attended by religious leaders, decision-makers, international leaders and specialists, and representatives of a number of international institutions and organizations, is an intellectual platform for civilized encounter and exchange of views on a number of vital societal issues related to the promotion of brotherhood, coexistence and civilized exchange between cultures around the world. To be a bridge between the G20 summit held in November 2022 in the Indonesian capital, Bali, and the launch of the agenda of the G20 summit for the year 2023 to be held in New Delhi, and a contribution from the participants to formulating and crystallizing views and providing global solutions to meet the challenges of the present and the future.

The forum aims, through discussions and dialogue sessions, to contribute effectively to the development of applicable plans that support the efforts of governments around the world in achieving the goals of sustainable development, and to present them to global leaders at the G20 Summit as an essential part of the agenda, which includes a package of solutions to common global challenges, and building economies developed, and development that includes all countries and peoples of the world.

The forum will discuss several axes, including protecting marginalized groups in societies from major threats such as human trafficking, food security, the response and recovery phase following the Corona 19 pandemic, spreading the values ​​of tolerance and acceptance of others and peaceful coexistence, and establishing dialogue on a number of issues related to religious freedom, in addition to contributing to Deliberations related to global issues, including climate change.
