Jakarta, September 6 / WAM / The Ministry of Health and Community Protection participated in the third meeting of the health working session within the international Group of Twenty “G20”, which was held in the Republic of Indonesia to discuss ways to strengthen the global health infrastructure by expanding global vaccine manufacturing and research centers for epidemic prevention, preparedness and response.
During his participation in the meeting, the state delegation – headed by His Excellency Dr. Youssef Mohamed Al Serkal, Director-General of the Emirates Foundation for Health Services – stressed the need to strengthen the solidarity of member states to meet the necessary needs and develop capabilities to support global health systems, provide supplies, treatments and safe and effective vaccines, and ensure their equitable access to all, which contributes to Spreading reassurance and hope in global communities and supporting sustainable development goals in the field of health.
The Ministry of Health and Community Protection expressed its willingness and support to work with the Group of Twenty, which is currently chaired by Indonesia, with the aim of achieving the desired results of the priority associated with developing the global health infrastructure through the global expansion of manufacturing and research centers for epidemic prevention, preparedness and response.
Dr. Youssef Al Serkal expressed the UAE’s support and welcome for the G20 establishment of a network of researchers and manufacturers related to public health emergencies to play a pivotal role in consolidating global health infrastructure and enable better preparedness through mechanisms associated with knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and capacity building required to establish manufacturing centers Research and enhance preparedness for future pandemics to meet the needs of low- and middle-income countries around the world.
He pointed out that the UAE is committed to providing all aspects of support to the initiatives of the Health Working Group and to playing effective and influential roles in view of its international standing and logistical capabilities and the global leadership it has achieved in the governance of pandemic management thanks to the efficiency, proactiveness and flexibility of its preventive health system, as it formed a global model to be emulated with the testimony of countries and international organizations Supporting global efforts, participating in international decision-making for the post-pandemic era, and preparing for any global health developments.
