Emirates News Agency – Tomorrow, the Arabian horse race will start as part of the Liwa Festival

Al Dhafra, December 22 / WAM / Tomorrow, Friday, the activities of the Liwa International Festival 2023 will enter its eighth day, with the start of the Arabian horse racing competitions in the field designated for these races in the Tel Mereb area.
The race is part of the sports activities of the festival, which is organized by the Liwa Sports Club in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi.
The race for purebred Arabian horses will start tomorrow through two halves, and the distance of the first half will be 2100 meters, while the distance of the second half will be 1400 meters..The competition will start from four o’clock in the followingnoon and will continue for regarding an hour by challenging the runs and honoring the winners at the end.
In addition to the start of the horse race tomorrow, various recreational activities will continue in the Tel Mereb area, with the influx of campers, participants and visitors to the region, and the continuation of entertainment competitions in one of the largest festivals of its kind in the Middle East and in the region, especially with the presence of many entertainment means.
The falconry races within the festival concluded with great success, with the last category, Gernas, being held in the last three days devoted to this competition, which witnessed the registration of 343 birds participating in the competition across all categories.
On the closing day, in the category of pure Qarmosha gear, the bird was crowned by Saif Jamal Al Falasi, with a time of 17,184 seconds.
In the Jeer Shaheen Tabaa category, the gold bird of Rabdan team achieved the best time with 17,092 seconds, and the second came the amazing bird of Saif Jamal Al Falasi (17,369 seconds), and the third came the bird watched by Saif Jamal Al Falasi (17,532 seconds).
Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Chairman of the Liwa Sports Club, confirmed that the falconry competitions received a very large turnout, confirming the great love and value of this popular sport for all participants and falconry.
He stressed that the camp occupancy rate has reached large numbers with its spread in the area of ​​Mereb and on the mainland, in addition to the presence of all integrated services in the area, whether from restaurants, shops, workshops and other services.
He said: “The number of stores, shops and restaurants has reached 188, which is a large number that provides all the logistics services to Mereb visitors and visitors without the need to leave the Mereb area for weeks on end, not to mention the rest of the health services, the provision of fuel and the supermarkets located here in Mereb. We succeeded in creating an integrated community and we are happy with the large turnout on land during festival days.
Al Qubaisi stressed that sporting events continue on a daily basis through the festival until the last two days of the championship, which will witness the launch of the Tel Mereb Car Championship, which is the biggest and most awaited event for all and the strongest challenge within the festival activities and the conclusion of the sports competitions.
