ABU DHABI, March 28 / WAM / Tomorrow, 6 Arab teams will enter the decisive stage in their qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, with the hope of qualifying with a record number of 7 teams, for the first time in history, as the last edition in Russia 2018 witnessed the participation of 4 Arab teams, namely Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Morocco and Tunisia.
As for the Asian Arab teams, following Saudi Arabia qualified as the second group in the Asian qualifiers, in addition to the host Qatar team, the hopes are placed on each of the UAE team in order to beat South Korea to maintain the third place in the table of the first group standings, with 9 points, to face in the event of Australia’s victory is the third in Group B, and if it wins, it will face either Peru, Colombia or Chile.
The Iraqi team also has 8 points within the same group in fourth place, where it also hopes to qualify third to meet the Australian team as well, and then complete the final journey with any of Peru, Colombia or Chile.
The UAE team has the best chance, as it needs to beat South Korea in order to qualify for the playoffs without waiting for any results, and in the event of a draw, it will have to wait for Syria to face Iraq, at which time the Iraqi team must lose or draw.
In the event of a loss once morest South Korea, the UAE team will wait for Iraq to lose once morest Syria, or a draw, where the Emirates team will have a goal difference.
4 Arab teams from Africa are also waiting for the decisive and final confrontation, as Egypt meets with Senegal, Tunisia with Mali, Morocco with the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Algeria with Cameroon, in the second leg of the decisive stage.
The first leg matches of the decisive stage for the Arab African teams witnessed the victory of Egypt over Senegal with a goal in return, Tunisia over Mali with a goal in return and Algeria over Cameroon with a goal in return, while Morocco tied with the Democratic Republic of Congo with a goal each.
Egypt needs a draw or a win over Senegal in order to qualify, as is the case for Tunisia and Algeria, while Morocco needs a win or a negative draw in order to ensure qualification.
