Emirates News Agency – Tomorrow, registration opens for the Fifth Dalma Festival Historic Race

ABU DHABI, October 9 / WAM/ The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club will open tomorrow the registration for the Fifth Historic Dalma Festival Race, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra region, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee in Abu Dhabi From October 27 to November 3, on the historic island of Dalma.

Registration will remain open for those wishing to attend this historic event until the 22nd of this month.

The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club announced that registration is available for sailors on the club’s website, in order to facilitate the owners and not to move from any distant places in the various emirates of the country.

The official race date will be determined according to the weather conditions, from October 27 to November 3.
It is expected that the organizing committee of the race, headed by Ahmed Thani Murshid Al Rumaithi, Vice President of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, will hold an enlightening meeting with the Nawakhatha participants in the race following closing the registration door and determining the number of participants. The deadlines for the arrival of bearings to Dalma Island will also be announced later, following setting the official date for the race, provided that all participating bearings undergo a comprehensive technical examination to ensure that they comply with the technical specifications specified by the organizing committee.
Majid Ateeq Al Muhairi, Director of Marine Sports Department at Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Fifth Historic Dalma Race, confirmed that the club is continuing its efforts to complete preparations for this major historical event, praising the role played by the club’s partners and sponsors in making the festival a success for the fifth year in a row.
Al Muhairi thanked His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, for his generous patronage of the festival, stressing that the sponsorship doubled the value of the event.
He also saluted the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee in Abu Dhabi for the great effort they are making in order to make the event a success and the great support they provide at various levels.
Al Muhairi expected that the registration door would witness a great turnout from seafarers from all over the Emirates, pointing out that the past four editions achieved great successes, whether at the level of participation or organization, which heralds a fifth edition at the same level.
He stressed that the organizing committee headed by Ahmed Thani Al Rumaithi is doing its best to produce this copy in a manner that befits the value and size of the great national heritage event.
