ABU DHABI, 13th November, 2019 (WAM) — The UAE national football team performed its first training session today in the capital, Abu Dhabi, in preparation for the friendly international match that will bring it together with its counterpart, the Argentine national team, next Wednesday, at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Al Jazira Club.
The UAE national team is preparing, through its current camp, to participate in the Arab Gulf Cup “Gulf 25” scheduled in the Iraqi city of Basra next January, while the Argentine national team is preparing to compete in the 2022 World Cup.
The Argentine Rodolfo Arwabarina, the UAE coach, led the first training, on the sub-stadium at Zayed Sports City Stadium, with the participation of all the selected players, namely Muhammad Al Shamsi, Ali Khasif, Khaled Issa, Ahmed Jamil, Khaled Al Dhanhani, Khalifa Al Hammadi, Shaheen Abdul Rahman, Abdul Salam Muhammad, Khaled Al Hashemi, Al-Hassan Saleh, Abdulaziz Haikal, Majid Hassan, Majid Rashid, Abdullah Ramadan, Abdullah Hamad, Ali Salmeen, Yahya Nader, Tahnoun Al-Zaabi, Hareb Abdullah, Ali Saleh, Fabio de Lima, Caio Canido, Ali Mabkhout and Yahya Al-Ghassani.
The UAE national team had started its assembly in the capital, Abu Dhabi, this followingnoon, following the end of the tenth week matches of the ADNOC Professional League yesterday. The technical and administrative staff of the players stressed the importance of this gathering, which continues until the nineteenth of this month, and witnesses, in addition to facing Argentina, another match once morest the Kazakhstan national team.
For his part, Ahmed Al Tunaiji, member of the National Teams and Technical Affairs Committee in the UAE Football Association, supervisor of the national team, confirmed the readiness of the UAE national team players to face his Argentine counterpart on Wednesday evening.
He pointed out that everyone is motivated for this match, which will be the focus of everyone’s attention, as it is the last experience of the Argentine national team before heading to Qatar to participate in the 2022 World Cup, and as one of the teams nominated for the world title and includes in its ranks elite players, led by Lionel Messi.
Al-Tunaiji called on everyone to support the UAE national team, as it is going through a transitional phase that is witnessing the joining of a number of young players who will have a great deal in the near future and constitute a source of strength with their experienced colleagues in the upcoming tournaments.
