DUBAI, 9th April, 2020 (WAM) — The UAE national team won the Nad Al Sheba International Padel Championship, following defeating its Qatari counterpart, 2-0, in the final of the first edition of the tournament, which was held within the activities of the tenth edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament.
Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, President of the Emirates Exchange Federation, Honorary President of the Arab Federation, crowned the UAE national team with the championship title, in the presence of Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, Khalifa Youssef Khoury, Vice President of the Emirates Exchange Federation, and Hassan Al Mazrouei, Director session.
Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum presented the championship cup to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, for his support and sponsorship of the padel sport, which started from the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament to achieve wide spread in the Emirates.
He thanked the players for the great efforts they made in all matches and during the preparation period.
Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum praised the great success achieved by the first edition of the Nad Al Sheba International Paddle Championship and the strong levels presented by the participating teams, which reflects positively on the national team, which is preparing for many benefits in the coming period.
It is noteworthy that this is the second international victory for our team in the tournaments held within the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, where our national team achieved in the ninth edition of the tournament in 2022 winning the title of the first edition of the Gulf Exchange Championship following defeating the Qatari team in the final match as well.
On the other hand, the curtain will fall tomorrow on the volleyball competitions in the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, where the Al Jawarih and Zabeel teams will meet in the final of the tournament.
The two teams qualified for the final following their victory over the Emperor and Fahd Zabeel teams in the semi-finals, 3-0 and 3-1, respectively.
