Chennai, India, 10 August / WAM / The UAE men’s and women’s chess teams have advanced 25 positions in the general ranking of the World Chess Olympiad, among several positive results and gains achieved by our players and players in this strong tournament, which is closing today in the Indian city of Chennai.

It is expected that these positive results and gains will have a role in the development of the game and the pursuit of more achievements.

The women’s team won the third place and the bronze medal in the C category, advancing in the general ranking of the Olympics 25 places, becoming the 60th and second in the Arab world after the Egyptian team.

The women’s team achieved positive results in the last rounds, after defeating Tunisia, drawing with Bolivia and defeating Nigeria.

All the players were able to increase their international ranking points after Moza Al-Mansoori got 56 points, Rawda Al-Sarkal got 44 points, she won the title of Professor of the International Federation and Maryam Issa got 44 points, and she won the title of an international candidate after she scored 44 points in the Olympics, Wafia Darwish 19 points and Aisha Al-Muaini 19 points .

For his part, the men’s team advanced 25 places to become 78th and third in the Arab world after the teams of Egypt and Morocco.. The player Abdel Rahman Al-Taher, the youngest player in the delegation of our national team, won the title of Professor of the International Federation, and obtained 72 points in the international classification, while Ibrahim Sultan got on 47 points.

Tarim Matar Tarim, President of the UAE Chess Federation, expressed his happiness with these results, stressing that the federation’s goals fall in three directions, namely winning championships, raising the international rating of players and players, obtaining international titles, as well as interacting with different schools in the game.

And he said: “This has already been achieved, as our players won 3 international titles and the rating of most of the players was raised, and the decision of the Board of Directors of the Federation to rely on the youth to participate in the Open Championship after the senior players apologized for different circumstances was correct because he achieved the goals, and revealed a rule for the future for a distinguished group.” of the players.”
