ABU DHABI, September 7 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department organized, via video link, today a media forum on the achievements of the Family Guidance Department.
During the forum, Fathia Al-Obaidly, Head of the Family Guidance Department at the Judicial Department, and Dr. Turki Al-Qahtani, the Department’s Family Guidance Department, spoke.
Fathia Al-Obaidly stated that the advantages of the Family Guidance Department are to shorten the time of the client, avoid the disputers’ resort to the courts, preserve the privacy of the disputers, and strive to preserve the family entity by containing the family dispute by consolidating and strengthening the family relationship and preserving the children.
She pointed out that the role of the family counselor is to discuss the two parties to the conflict and discuss their issue, with a statement of family rights and duties, to reach an agreement or amicable reconciliation without resorting to the courts, and to edit and document divorce declarations electronically and approve them according to the applicable regulations, and to edit and conclude family agreements as an executive document in accordance with the Personal Status Law and the issuance of special declarations. Through marital review, non-review, the expiry of the waiting period, opening a channel of dialogue and amicable understanding between the spouses, providing the clients with the marital skills necessary to achieve family stability, and referring the dispute to the competent court in the event that reconciliation is not possible between the parties to the dispute.
It reviewed the family guidance statistics for the first half of the year, where the percentage of completion in disputes reached 94%, /7,755 family disputes/.
The percentage of agreement and consensual reconciliation reached 69%, (5,040 reconciliation cases).
The divorce rate reached 3%, (265 cases of divorce), while the percentage of those referred to the court due to impossibility of conciliation reached 16.5%, (1,280 of those referred to the court due to impossibility of conciliation).
The head of the Family Guidance Section pointed to the service delivery channels where the customer can apply for one of the family guidance services through the Judicial Department website, the printing offices approved by the Department, and law firms.
For his part, Dr. Turki Al-Qahtani spoke regarding the initiative of the “Solh Khair” program, pointing out that the program specializes in looking into disputes of divorce, khul’ and marital obedience.
He reviewed the reconciliation statistic during the first half of 2022.. He explained that 59% of the completed disputes/2,023 family disputes/ and 41% are still being discussed, and 14% of the percentage of agreement and consensual reconciliation/283 reconciliation cases/, and 7% of the divorce rate in the reconciliation program is good/ 151 divorce cases/ and 89% of the restricted and presented requests (divorce and khul’) and 7% of the cases of divorce and khul’ by agreement.
Dr. Turki Al-Qahtani pointed to the challenges of family guidance, which is represented in encouraging participants to be aware of the importance of reducing the phenomenon of divorce. The “Salh Khair” program has been implemented, which targets all married couples who have filed for divorce of all kinds and to provide awareness and educational workshops, in addition to the lack of sincere desire sometimes from anyone The parties to the conflict in resolving the dispute and the negative impact of social networking sites on family life.
