His Excellency Humaid Saeed Bulahij Al Rumaithi, Director General of the Emirates Heritage Club, said that the club is keen to participate annually in this distinguished forum, which is a platform for communication with representatives of different civilizations and peoples, and an opportunity for heritage lovers to familiarize them with the vocabulary of local heritage, adding that the exhibition indirectly links the present The Emirates, which reflects technical progress, and its past, which is reflected in the importance of preserving the heritage of parents and grandparents, whose vocabulary appears in more than one way in this exhibition.
He explained that the club is participating this year in a program full of diverse and comprehensive heritage activities and events, in line with its goals and mission in spreading and consolidating heritage, and qualifying the youth and youth sector to be active members of society within the framework of the culture and heritage of the UAE and in line with the nature of the age and its requirements.
During the first days of the exhibition, the club’s pavilion presented a number of workshops and live performances of industries and handicrafts that were prevalent in the past, such as pottery, pampering, swords and daggers, al-Tali, al-Sadu, and a number of marine workshops on religion, tasha, and spinning. Oyster splitting and pearl extraction, in addition to heritage competitions, falconry shows, horse and camel riding, and drawing and coloring activities.
The pavilion provides an opportunity for visitors to the exhibition to learn regarding Emirati traditional food, wear traditional clothes, and take photographs.
On the cultural side, the Emirates Heritage Club organized a complementary program to what is presented by the publications corner in its pavilion at the exhibition, which includes the club’s publications on heritage, history, studies and collections of Nabati poetry, including many titles related to hunting and equestrianism in the UAE.
The club opened its accompanying cultural program with a lecture on “Horse in the Sources of UAE History” on the first day of the exhibition, in which heritage consultant Saeed bin Karaz Al Muhairi spoke, who presented historical tourism regarding horses, their origins and names, and their presence in the Emirati heritage, noting the interest of the UAE sheikhs in horses and their breeds.
In the same context, a lecture on “Ancient Arabian Horses in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi” by Mohammed Ali Al Matrooshi, a researcher specializing in horse affairs, came on the second day of the exhibition, who talked regarding the purebred Arabian horses in the UAE, their types and importance, addressing the history and names of some of the oldest Arabian horses in Abu Dhabi and their lineage.
On the same day (Tuesday), the club organized an introductory session at the exhibition’s sustainability platform, under the title “Emirati Sunna among the People of the Badia” presented by heritage coach Zayed Al-Mansoori, who spoke regarding the efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in preserving On the authentic customs and traditions, noting the great support from the UAE for heritage and artifacts, and the efforts of the Emirates Heritage Club to preserve and spread heritage among modern generations.
The club’s cultural program continues throughout the exhibition days with seminars, lectures, dialogue sessions and a poetry evening.
