Emirates News Agency – The Chess Federation forms the Higher Organizing Committee for the Asian Amateur Championship

DUBAI, 4th April, 2020 (WAM) — The UAE Chess Federation announced the formation of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the Asian Amateur Championship, which the Federation will organize in Dubai next August, with the participation of more than 200 male and female players from various Asian countries.
The Supreme Organizing Committee for the tournament is chaired by Tarim Matar Tarim, President of the Federation, and the formation includes Abdul Karim Al Marzouki, Vice-Chairman of the Committee, and Sultan Ali Al-Taher, Director of the Championship, who will form the committees operating in the tournament.
The committee was formed during the periodic meeting of the Federation’s Board of Directors; Where the file hosting the tournament issued the agenda of the meeting.
The Board of Directors of the Federation praised the achievement of the great international professor Salem Abdel Rahman, player of the UAE national team and the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, by winning the title of the “Riyadh Calendar” championship with the participation of elite Arab players, thanking the General Authority for Sports and the Sharjah Sports Council, and appreciating the role of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club.
The federation’s board of directors discussed hiring an international coach for the men’s national team. A list of 3 coaches submitted by the National Teams Committee was reviewed.
Abdul Karim Al Marzouqi, Secretary General of the Federation, confirmed that the Asian Amateur Championship will be at the forefront of the federation’s priorities during the coming period, to prepare for it in a manner befitting the name of chess and Emirates sport.
He said, “We have the experience of organizing such events, but we always strive for the best, and the next stage will witness the formation of working committees to start preparing for the event.”
He pointed out that the meeting also dealt with a group of community initiatives, in which the federation participated, including the exhibition of the General Sports Authority, and a visit to the Emirates Foundation for Medical Services and the Muhaisnah Health Center.
