Fujairah, November 22 / WAM / The works of the World Conference “Cities Environment” Fujairah 2022 kicked off today, in the presence of 900 participants from 25 countries in the event organized by the Fujairah Municipality, the Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation and the Environment Center for Arab Cities in cooperation with Dubai Municipality and the Arab Towns Organization Under the slogan “Sustainable and Flexible Smart Cities Applications”.
His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Saif Al-Afkham, Director General of Fujairah Municipality and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the Conference, said that the event is witnessing an unprecedented attendance of more than 900 participants, including experts and pioneers in the smart sustainable cities sector, elite leaders in the country, municipal work officials and specialists from more than 25 countries around the world to highlight On the strategies and policies of sustainable smart cities and the most prominent international practices of interest with decision makers and future city forecasters in order to come up with developmental and innovative ideas for issues facing smart city systems.
His Excellency added that sustainability, smart cities, and attention to the environment and its natural resources come at the top of the priorities of the wise leadership and its lofty directives, and that we, within the framework of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, are working with our partners from the public and private sectors, all stakeholders and the local community to establish advanced work mechanisms. Promote access to sustainable, prosperous and safe smart cities for all.
For his part, His Excellency Eng. Ali Qasim, Director General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, Vice Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the Conference, expressed his pride in hosting this high-level event in the Emirate of Fujairah, which reflects the emirate’s distinguished position in the global business sector to review global policies and legislation for smart cities and artificial intelligence systems, as well as Focusing on the role of youth and innovation in facing the challenges of sustainability and other topics of importance on the agenda of the conference.
For his part, Abdullah Al Hantobi, Deputy Director General of Fujairah Municipality, welcomed the guests and participants, stressing that the conference enjoys the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, who is always keen to provide all forms of guidance and support to enhance the position of Fujairah as a leading destination at all levels and an ideal incubator. The first day of the conference included three discussion sessions on the future of smart cities, in which working papers were presented on strategic planning and the potential of sustainable smart cities, and presentations were shared on innovative ideas in data management, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of things for smart and sustainable cities and communities, as well as a discussion of the role of women in protecting biodiversity and the economy.
