Liwa – Al Dhafra, July 22 / WAM / The Liwa Date Festival, in its 18th session, witnessed strong competitions among the participants in the competition of dates of salvation within the open round and the salvation round for farms in Al Ain region, while the festival competitions will continue until July 24 in the city of Liwa in the Al Dhafra region under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, and the organization of the Abu Dhabi Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee.

The Liwa Date Festival crowned the winners of the Rutab Al Khalas competition, in the presence of Issa Saif Al Mazrouei, Vice Chairman of the Committee for the Management of Festivals and Cultural and Heritage Programs in Abu Dhabi, Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Director of the Festival, and Mubarak Ali Al Qasili Al Mansouri, Director of the Dates Gardens at the Festival.

The results of the Rotab Al-Khalas competition in the open round resulted in the first place for “Saif Bakhit Saif Murshid Al-Marar” from Al-Dhaweher, and “Salem Ali Murshid Khamis Al-Marar” from Al-Dhaweher, in the third place, “Usha Abdullah Khamis Al-Marar” from Seih Al-Khair, and in the third place. The fourth place was “Obeid Saeed Nassib Khamis Al Mazrouei” from Al Duhaij, and in the fifth place was “The Heirs of Issa Saif Faris Saeed Al Mazrouei” from Al Duhaij.

In the salvation run for Al-Ain farms, the first place was won by “Ali Saeed Hamouda Khamis Al-Ariani” from Al-Wagan, the second place by “Bani Ali Miftah Al-Shamsi” from Al-Arad, the third place by “Mubarak Muhammad Muftah Al-Shamsi” from Al-Dhahirah, and the fourth by “Saeed Rashid”. A number of officials visited the Liwa Date Festival in its 18th session, in the city of Liwa in the Al Dhafra region, and reviewed a number of participations in the dates’ competitions. They were accompanied on the tours by Issa Saif Al Mazrouei, Vice Chairman of the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee, and Obaid Khalfan. A delegation from the Center for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi visited the festival, led by Dr. Abdullah Rashid Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of the Response and Recovery Sector at the Centre, accompanied by Dr. Saeed Salem Al Ketbi, Acting Director of the Department of Scientific Studies and Research, and Mr. Faisal Sarhan Al Kaabi, Acting Director of the Training and Exercise Department.

The festival was also visited by Dr. Salem Al Kaabi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Center for Waste Management “Tadweer”, Acting Director-General of Operations at the Department of Municipalities and Transport, accompanied by Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director-General of the Integrated Transport Center in Abu Dhabi and a number of officials.

From the Department of Government Support in Abu Dhabi, the festival was visited by His Excellency Fahad Salem Ahmed Al Kiyumi, Undersecretary of the Department, accompanied by Muhammad Musallam Nasser Al Junaibi, Acting Executive Director of the Government Procurement Office.

The festival was also visited by His Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Acting Director General of the National Archives and Library, and His Excellency Suhaila Ghobash, Director of Events Department at the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment.

And from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Ahmed Bin Thalith, CEO of ADNOC World Trade, and a number of company officials visited the festival.

His Excellency Dr. Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Center for Waste Management (Tadweer), said that the center’s participation in the Liwa Date Festival comes from its pivotal role as a governmental entity responsible for waste management in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, through which it aspires to make a positive change in society. around us, maintaining a balance between culture and environmental heritage, and instilling a culture of social responsibility, by enhancing public awareness of the culture of proper waste handling, encouraging them to adopt sound and sustainable environmental practices, and providing all forms of support to preserve the aesthetic and civilized landscape of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in line with the plan of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. He added that the Liwa Date Festival has succeeded, since its launch, in establishing its position as one of the most important events aimed at reviving heritage and celebrating the ancient Emirati customs and traditions.
