Nouakchott, December 30, WAM/ Under the auspices of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and with the support of the country’s cultural embassy to the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization “ALECSO”, the “House of Creativity for Plastic and Visual Arts” was inaugurated in Nouakchott under the supervision of the First Lady of the Republic Islamic Mauritania, Dr. Maryam Bint Muhammad Fadel Ould Dah.
The inauguration was attended by: Her Excellency Safia Bint Intaha, Minister of Social Work, Childhood and Family, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Sweidat, Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports and Relations with Parliament, His Excellency Hayat Katat Al-Qarmazi, Minister of Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia, and His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science “ALECSO” and His Excellency Hamad Ghanem Al Muhairi, UAE Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
The idea of the Creativity House for Fine and Visual Arts came at the initiative of Sheikha Al Yazia Bint Nahyan Al Nahyan, Extraordinary Ambassador for Culture at ALECSO during her cultural and artistic visit to Mauritania during the month of November 2021. More than 150 young artists and pioneers will benefit from the Creativity House.
On this occasion, an art exhibition was organized that included more than 95 artworks by 40 artists, who varied between schools and various artistic styles, including oil, water, charcoal and lead.
The ceremony began with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the unveiling of the inauguration board, followed by the official words of His Excellency the Director General of the ALECSO Organization, in which he affirmed that this pioneering cultural edifice is one of the distinguished fruits of the joint activities between the ALECSO Organization and the Extraordinary Ambassador of Culture, Sheikha Al Yazia Bint Nahyan Al Nahyan, indicating This distinguished cultural and artistic edifice, which came with the support of the Ambassador of Culture, will give a strong impetus to young plastic artists to develop their creativity and abilities. It is also a good opportunity to highlight the artistic and cultural diversity of Mauritania.
His Excellency Hamad Al Muhairi said that the “House of Creativity for Fine and Visual Arts” confirms the depth and strength of relations between the UAE and Mauritania, pointing out that the UAE pays great attention to fine art as one of the fine arts that embody creative ideas through drawing, photography, sculpture and other creations. Through these beautiful artistic spaces that plastic artists share with their Arab brothers in general and with Mauritanians in particular.. pointing out that Emiratis have created and represented the culture of the country through active participation in international exhibitions.. explaining that the opening of the “House of Creativity” will be a supportive platform for artists and amateurs in Mauritania and a motivation To walk in the paths of creativity and excellence.
For her part, Ms. Moat Arhail, President of the Association of Young Mauritanian Plastic Artists and the supervisor of the Creativity House for Fine and Visual Arts, thanked and appreciated Sheikha Al Yazia Bint Nahyan Al Nahyan for her support and sponsorship of the Creativity House for Fine and Visual Arts and the Ministry of Culture for contributing and supervising, and for the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science and the Mohit Center for All the support and encouragement received by the Creativity House for Visual and Plastic Arts, which had a great and clear impact in making the association’s activity more effective in order to achieve the desired goals.
She stressed that this new cultural edifice is considered an inclusive entity for Mauritanian youth interested in fine art and visual arts, to show their talents and creativity in drawing and various other visual arts, to contribute to introducing the history and culture of a society rich in Arab and African cultural diversity.
She said: “This support proves to all of us the extent of the interest of the Ministry and Sheikha Al Yazia bint Nahyan Al Nahyan in youth talents, art and plastic arts as a sophisticated means to deliver messages that express the culture and history of society.. calling on all artists and those interested in plastic art to unleash their talents to reach everyone and join The House of Creativity is the home for all visual and creative artists.
