WASHINGTON, 22nd July, 2022 (WAM) — Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev and Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti have returned safely to the International Space Station (ISS) following a seven-hour spacewalk, WASHINGTON reported. German Press Agency (dpa).
Artemyev and Cristoforetti achieved all but one of their main goals during the spacewalk, which lasted 7 hours and 5 minutes and ended at 21:55 GMT, US space agency NASA said.
The main purpose of the spacewalk was to move a robotic arm, called ERA, and launch 10 nanosatellites, designed to collect radioelectronic data.
The duo were also intended to install a telescopic boom that might help astronauts on future spacewalks, but that task must now be accomplished on an upcoming spacewalk, NASA said.
