Emirates News Agency – North Korea test-fires a new underwater nuclear attack

SEOUL, April 9, 2020 (WAM) – North Korea conducted an underwater test of an unmanned vehicle capable of carrying out an underwater nuclear attack this week, according to the South Korean “Yonhap” news agency.

Yonhap reported that North Korea tested the Hail-2 underwater strategic weapon system from April 4 to 7.
The experimental drone was deployed from a port in South Hamgyong Province on Tuesday, and “correctly fired” an experimental warhead underwater on Friday following cruising along a simulated “oval and octagon” trajectory of 1,000 kilometers for 71 hours and six minutes, according to the agency.
North Korea recently intensified its experiments, following the discovery of the tactical nuclear warhead “Hwasan 31” and the launch of cruise missiles from a submarine.
