DUBAI, 20th September, 2022 (WAM) — The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) will launch the national seasonal flu awareness campaign at a press conference to be held next week.
Under the theme “Protect yourself…Protect your community”, the annual seasonal flu campaign will be launched on September 26, in cooperation with the Center for Public Health Abu Dhabi, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the Abu Dhabi Department of Health.
The seasonal flu campaign, which is part of the UAE’s strategy to provide comprehensive health coverage and protect members of society from infectious diseases, will run until next December.
The campaign aims to raise awareness in the community regarding the importance of getting the seasonal flu vaccine, educate and train healthcare professionals on international best practices to prevent complications from the flu virus, provide vaccines once morest influenza and to increase vaccination coverage rates. It will focus more on groups most vulnerable to flu complications, including the elderly, pregnant women and people with chronic illnesses.
The Deputy Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, Dr. Hussein Abdel Rahman Al Rand, pointed out that the annual seasonal flu campaign reaffirms the ministry’s commitment to immunize all members of the community once morest infectious diseases, including influenza, and to educate them on means of prevention by providing them with facts and information that encourage them to participate in annual vaccination campaigns, thereby increasing vaccination coverage.
“Besides reducing the transmission of infection and increasing the level of community awareness, these campaigns will also help develop the skills and expertise of health workers and introduce them to best practices regarding preventive measures. recommended by the World Health Organization,” said Al Rand.
