Surakarta – Indonesia On 11 December / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the Indonesian city of Surakarta (Solo), accompanied by His Excellency the Indonesian President Joko Widodo, and the Mayor of The city of Surakarta Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

His Highness inspected the most prominent features of this religious edifice, which was recently inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, as an expression of the meanings of love and cooperation for good that was embodied by the late Sheikh Zayed, “may God rest his soul.”

The mosque is a similar copy of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, with the addition of some traditional Indonesian designs and decorations. This architectural masterpiece and religious edifice was built using local building materials on a total area of ​​27,492 square meters, while the area of ​​the mosque building reaches 8441.28 square meters and can accommodate nearly 10,000 worshipers and contains 56 domes and 4 minarets in addition to 32 columns in the main prayer area. This mosque, whose designs blend Islamic architecture, Arab culture and local Javanese civilization, also includes an Islamic center for teaching the teachings of the true religion and the values ​​of moderation.

His Highness was accompanied during the visit by His Excellency Suhail bin Muhammad Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, His Excellency Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, and a number of senior officials.
