ABU DHABI, September 21 / WAM / Japanese stock indices fell at the close of trading today, while investors around the world awaited the US Federal Reserve’s meeting today regarding interest rates.
The Nikkei index closed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, down 1.36%, equivalent to 375.29 points, to close at 27313.13 points.
The broader Topix index fell 3.6%, equivalent to 71.79 points, to close at 1920.8 points.
In a related context, the performance of Chinese stock indices declined, with the “ESI” Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange falling by 0.16%, or 4.93 points, to reach 3117.48 points.
The Chinese Hang Seng Index fell by 1.61%, equivalent to 300.93 points, to reach the level of 18480.49 points.
